Recommend InfoSec Books?
Hi,
I would like to understand more of the technical aspects of Cybersecurity. I would rate myself somewhat of a beginner. Can anyone recommend some good books (or sites such as this one) to get me started?
Thank you.

Which areas of InfoSec are you most interested in?

https://www.sans.org/course/intro-information-security is the best way to get started with the hands-on technical aspects. This class provides the books.

On our site here we have a compilation of useful InfoSec links: https://isc.sans.edu/links.html

A nice list of Coursera classes can be found here: https://www.jayschulman.com/the-ultimate-coursera-guide-for-the-infosec-professional/

Another good resource is OWASP: https://www.owasp.org/index.php/Main_Page

A decent list of blogs/resources can be found here: http://ddosattackprotection.org/blog/cyber-security-blogs/

Books that I've found helpful:

Network Security Bible - The man himself: Dr. Eric Cole.

RTFM (Red Team Field Manual) - Ben Clark. Short and Sweet.

Blue Team Handbook - Don Murdoch.

If you would enjoy a lab:

BackTrack 5 Wireless Penetration Testing - Vivek Ramachandran. I enjoyed following this book because it has a section of "What Just Happened" after you complete a lab that explains what you just did.

Just a few to get started!
Dom
