We have a couple of issues people reported with yesterday's Microsoft patches. Let us know if you experienced any of these issues, and what workaround you applied to get things back to normal:

KB2868116: Takes very long to install. Just sit back and wait (30-45 Minutes). This patch improves the content of warning messages, so it is somewhat security relevant, but does not patch an actual vulnerability.

KB2817630: Causes Outlook to loose all folders. No workaround other then removing the patch. This was not a security patch.

We will add to this list as we confirm any other issues. So far, there are some reports of the system re-applying the same patch over and over, but there are just one or two users reporting this, and in some cases the patch that causes it isn't identified.

Two security updates released yesterday MS13-072, MS13-073 and MS13-074, These are installing fine but if you scan the machine again for updates, show up again and again and again. Currently there is no fix available for these other than to say that the update is applied but it is not getting properly detected. The product group is aware of the issues and are working on it.

Outlook 2013 - see http://blogs.technet.com/b/office_sustained_engineering/archive/2013/09/11/outlook-folder-pane-disappears-after-installing-september-2013-public-update.aspx
There is a patch for the Outlook problem.

See the post here http://blogs.technet.com/b/office_sustained_engineering/archive/2013/09/11/outlook-folder-pane-disappears-after-installing-september-2013-public-update.aspx

I applied the patch here and it fixed my problems http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2817503
I rebooted after forty five minutes of watching KB2868116 do nothing on Windows 7 64-bit. No disk activity, no progress on the progress bar, nothing. "Takes very long to install. Just sit back and wait (30-45 Minutes)." may be an understatement.
Updates KB2760411, KB2760588, and KB2760583 will install repeatedly. Microsoft does not yet have a solution.

The KB entries on support.microsoft.com now include as a Known Issue:
"You may be repeatedly offered this update even though it is already installed. Microsoft is researching this problem and will post more information in this article when the information becomes available"

Yesterday morning (6-11-2015) my Windows 7 notebook (with full-speed I7 processor)
was sluggish so I rebooted and found that Windows was installing '1 of 20' updates.
THIS PROCESS TOOK 8.5 HOURS. What can I do to avoid this in the future?

If you want to turn off the automatic updates, follow these steps:

* Click Start, click Run, type sysdm.cpl, and then press Enter.
* Click the Automatic Updates tab, and then click to select Turn off Automatic Updates.
* Click OK.

However, it is important that you find a more convenient time to update your computer without waiting too long.
