Job Description

Fortress Information Security is one of the largest cyber security providers of supply chain risk management and vulnerability risk management in the US. Fortress is headquartered in Orlando, FL, with offices in Boise, ID, Reston, VA, and Columbus, OH.

A Jr. VSOC Analyst is a dedicated professional who works on a team to process, monitor, detect, investigate, and verify software, components, and malware threats on company networks.

This position is onsite in our Orlando, FL headquarters.

Responsibilities Include:

Analyzing files and delivery mechanisms for security and content verification.
Sandbox analysis and reverse engineering of suspected malicious files.
Inspecting websites using HTML/X-Path, Javascript, etc.
Database and inventory management.
Must review business requirements and interact with Business Owners to ask questions and formulate solutions.
Work within SDLC management software to manage work pipeline, provide estimates, updates to status, and comments/hours logged.
Review, learn and propose new technology components to maintain software market leadership.
Able to handle high workload, multitask, and take responsibility for deliverables as assigned.
Observe, investigate, and report on security related events and news
Analyze vulnerability scan results
Use initiative to improve existing processes.

Minimum Qualifications:

Working knowledge of Linux/UNIX and must be able to script in one or more languages (Python, Powershell, Bash, C/C++, Go, Javascript, etc.)
Knowledge of or willingness to learn security topics, such as reverse engineering firmware, network and host-based firewalls, cryptography, IDS/IPS, SIEM tools, and more.
Able to take a technical concept and translate it into non-tech terms.
Fundamental understanding and interest in security concepts and best practices,

Preferred Additional Qualifications:

Hardware and firmware skills are a big plus. Source code review experience.
SQL/relational database experience, preferably PostgreSQL.
Experience in heavily regulated environments such as energy, healthcare, or financial services.

Education Requirements:

Associate degree (Computer Science or Engineering discipline; technical or professional experience may be substituted for formal education if necessary)
Security +, CEH, CISA, CISM or GIAC Certifications desired (Not Required)
