Gettysburg College is seeking a full-time Director of the Infrastructure and Computing Department reporting to the Vice President of Information Technology. The department is part of the Information Technology division that supports campus academic and administrative technology operations and initiatives.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing excellent customer service to the College’s increasingly diverse academic and residential community. Network and information security are the bedrock on which our customer service is built and the successful candidate will keep these at the forefront of all conversations, budgeting, planning, and operations. To achieve both excellent service and robust security, Gettysburg College seeks candidates who have the communication skills and cross-cultural abilities to maximize their effectiveness with diverse groups of students, colleagues, and community members.
The successful candidate will have broad technical and management oversight responsibility for all operations within the Infrastructure and Computing Department including network infrastructure operations, computer and mobile device support, telecommunication operations, and user helpdesks. The successful candidate will possess strong leadership skills to manage and motivate a departmental staff of thirteen; will be capable of complex problem-solving using analytical skills to address both technical and College business challenges that span multiple departments and teams; will bridge the gap between technical and non-technical teams and translate technical ideas in terms of business value; will be able to prioritize, plan and execute technical projects on time and on budget; will need to be flexible to maintain and introduce up to date functional technology systems that enable productivity.
The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating communication and efforts with other IT divisional Directors around their departmental needs. These departments rely on close coordination with Infrastructure and Computing to provide their services to the College around instructional technologies, data services, classroom, physical and virtual meeting spaces.
The successful candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in an Information Technology related field or in a non-Information Technology related field if coupled with substantial relevant network experience. An advanced degree and directly related experience serving in a management role within an Information Technology organization are highly desired. Technical network and computer certifications are also highly desired.
